1) Tell me about the Northpoint Centre of Learning
Northpoint is a training and management development centre. It is built on the philosophy of ‘Building Actionable Knowledge’. To make all learning relevant, this unique model works through a close partnership with the industry to deliver customized development of effective talent through sustained engagement.
2) What is the program in a nutshell?
This is a 11 month residential career program. It has been designed and is delivered by senior managers from our partner companies and other organisations.
To ensure that all learning is aimed at creating high levels of actionable knowledge, Northpoint engages closely with leading industry program partners which include: Lowe Lintas, Leo Burnett, Ogilvy, JWT, Lintas Media Group, Aegis Media, Carat, iProspect Communicate2, Posterscope, Vizeum, Carat Fresh, Doosra, Isobar, Position2, Social Wavelength, PS Live, PSI, Taproot India, Webchutney, Ambient, Brandscope, Milestone and AY Digital (New York).

4) How is this program different?
The program focuses on experiential learning by providing an optimum balance between theory and practice. It is a unique program where students will be trained at the hands of at least 80 senior managers from the industry. The students have an opportunity to spend a large portion of their training inside large organisations and on the field.
5) How long since you offered the program?
Northpoint has successfully run over 20 career programs in Market Research, Brand Marketing & Marketing Communications since 2004. 1000+ of Northpoint alumni are currently placed with some of the largest organisations like JWT, Lowe Lintas, Ogilvy, Leo Burnett, Madison, etc.

6) What is the intake of students each year? Or What is the batch size?
Each year, Northpoint selects not more than 25 students to undergo the program.
7) Is a job guaranteed?
Northpoint provides complete placement assistance with our partner companies and other large FMCG companies on meeting the placement criteria which is as follows:
Minimum of 60% marks in each module, dissertation project and all internships offered during the course; as well as no record of any disciplinary issues during the program.
All Students must have a 90% attendance in all modules as well as during internships.

8) What is the package, on completion of the program?
The package will be at par with the industry standards (3.5-5.5 lakhs is only indicative)
9) Is this program affiliated to any University or is it accredited?
The PGP BMA is a Certificate program. It is a launch pad for careers with leaders in Advertising, Media and Digital world. There is no affiliation / accreditation to allow for the unique Northpoint training model.
10) Where will the classroom training be held?
The classroom sessions will be held at the Northpoint campus in Khandala. However, a large portion of the program is real-life exposure in the form of stints in sales, rural, and an internship in either advertising, media management or digital marketing based on the specialization.
You are free to visit the campus whenever you like.
11) What is the Admission criterion?
Graduates from all streams with a minimum of 50% are eligible to apply.
Candidates appearing for the final year Degree examination can also apply.
Good scores in competitive examinations like CAT/CET or equivalent examinations will be an added advantage. Though work experience and CAT/CET scores are not a pre requisite to apply to the program, they will, however, be an added advantage.
12) Is there a Selection process?
On receiving the application forms, shortlisted candidates will be called for a written examination that will test their language ability and creativity. This will be followed by Group Discussions and Personal Interviews at the Northpoint Campus, Khandala, on the same day.

13) What is the format of the Written Test?
The written test will largely comprise of subjective essay type questions which will test your language ability, communication skills and creativity. The test will also include questions on the marketing communications industry, in general.
14) What are the kind of Group Discussion topics that one can expect?
The intention of the Group Discussion is to gauge the depth of your contribution to the discussion, knowledge of the subject, quality of thinking, communication skills and how good a team player one is! The topics range from current affairs to value based generic ones.
15) What questions will be asked at the Personal Interview?
The personal interview is a chance for us to get to know the candidate on a one-on-one level and the questions are largely based on the information that is filled in, on the application form.
16) Is work experience a requirement for the program?
Work experience is not a pre requisite to apply to the program. An eye for detail, passion to sell ideas, ability to think out of the box, excellent communication skills and a desire to excel is what we’re looking for in potential students. The fast track career program that Northpoint offers together with the partner agencies is one of its kind giving the students the much needed jump start to their career, with or without prior work experience.
17) Will Northpoint allow the students to engage in some sort of part time job during the course?
The program is extremely rigorous, with assignments and projects that will need to be completed even after class hours. Hence, one will not be left with any time to pursue a part time job.
18) What is the career growth path after the student joins an organisation? At what level and designation does the student join at?
On completion of the program, the student will join the agency as a Management Trainee in the management cadre. There is ample scope for growth which begins as a manager and could someday culminate into an executive director. Many of the Northpoint alumni have eventually moved either to the client side of the business or have started their own businesses.

20) What are the Boarding and Lodging facilities provided to the students?
Breakfast, mid-morning tea, lunch, evening tea and dinner.
The student quarters are equipped with an individual lockable cupboard, bed, pillow, bed-sheets, blankets, soap, towels, hangers and hot water kettle; a common pantry for tea/coffee and ironing facility. One will need to carry all personal toiletries. A flashlight will also come in handy.
The laundry service is made available to you at a highly subsidized rate of Rs. 300 per month for a maximum of 50 pieces of clothing per month, clothes will be collected twice a week. This will need to be settled in cash at the beginning of each month. During the monsoons, due to high humidity, clothes take longer to dry. Hence, kindly prepare yourself for such a situation.
All expenses of personal nature like phone calls, transportation, etc. will be borne by the student.
If one would like to use his/her personal vehicles on campus, a permission slip signed by the parent would need to be submitted. Please note that Northpoint is located on the higher slopes of a mountain and the road leading up to it is typical hill terrain.
The students have complete access to the exclusive club house which is equipped with a swimming pool, tennis court, squash court, gymnasium, table tennis and billiards. Students are required to wear appropriate clothes/ footwear for each of these activities.
The library houses book related to the program as well as books in management, self development, leadership, etc. which can be freely availed of.

22) Both Northpoint programs seem interesting. How does one gauge which program is more suitable for him/her?
All Northpoint programs are unique and equally proficient in their own way. It is for one to decide if he/ she is more inclined to a creative stream (the marketing communications program) or an analytical (marketing research) environment.
Those who have a flare for technology, spend long hours on social media, like to understand the cause and effect of consumer behavior on digital platforms, may enjoy a career in Digital Marketing.
Those who enjoy reading societies and people as they evolve, enjoy creating big ideas that persuade and like to think out of the box, may enjoy a career in Advertising.
Those who enjoy consumers and want to learn how best to reach them, enjoy reducing tons of numbers to meaningful and actionable strategies, may enjoy a career in Media.
Those who enjoy exploring what and why people see and buy, want to learn how best to reach them when and where it matters, enjoy reducing tons of numbers to meaningful hypothesis/strategies then, they may enjoy a career in Marketing Research.
At Northpoint, no matter which course is chosen, Northpoint has the best faculty and industry partnerships to set the students sailing towards a great career. The PGP BMA program, comprises of a comprehensive module on marketing management as it is extremely relevant to all three specializations. While the basics of advertising, media and digital will be covered through the course, the student will undergo intensive sessions in the area of specialization.

Khandala is 2.5 hours from Mumbai and 1.5 hours from Pune. You can choose to travel by rail or road.
There are regular buses and trains to Lonavala every half hour from Pune/Mumbai. For those traveling by road, may refer to Google maps.
Northpoint is on the highest hill at Khandala. You can take an auto rickshaw to the campus from Lonavala station or from the Khandala exit. (Average fare of Rs 250. per trip).

25) Are there any Scholarships or Loan Facilities available?

Incidentally, the Northpoint students have previously availed loans from HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, AXIS Bank, Citizencredit Co-op Bank, Syndicate Bank etc.
No scholarships are available for any of the programs.
26) Are there any additional costs to students during the program?
There are no additional costs during the stay at the campus. However, any costs incurred by students during the projects/internships will need to be borne by them.
27) What does the student need to equip with before joining the program?
The student will need to be equipped with a laptop and data card which are essential requirements of the program.

30) Can a candidate who applied previously, reapply?
Candidates can reapply and will have to go through the entire selection process once again.
